What are the benefits of a hemp oil bath? (& How to make one)

After a long, stressful day; one of my favorite ways to relax is taking a warm bath. I’ve heard about hemp oil baths before, but I wondered, what are the benefits of a hemp oil bath?

A hemp oil bath can soothe skin, treat many skin conditions and help fight inflammation. To make a hemp oil bath add 2-3 tablespoons of hemp oil or hemp oil infused bath salts to bathwater.

Imagine, having smooth skin that’s free of acne and blemishes. Wouldn’t it be nice to relax and do some good for your body?

Luckily for you, I’m going to show you the benefits of adding hemp oil to your bath. I’ll show you who can benefit and what skin conditions can be helped. All you have to do is relax in a tub!

What are the benefits of a hemp oil bath?

Benefits of a hemp oil bath include increased skin hydration, decreased inflammation, and treatment of skin conditions. Hemp oil contains a rich nutrient profile which is easily absorbed into the skin.

Hemp oil has a rich nutrient profile, containing a perfect ratio of Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids. Fatty acids are oils that help the body function properly.

Additionally, hemp oil has been found to help strengthen skin to better fight off bacteria, viruses, and fungal infections. Your skin is your largest organ and provides a barrier between you and the world. Taking care of your skin is an essential part of keeping yourself healthy.

Is a hemp oil bath the same as a CBD bath?

A hemp oil bath is not the same as a CBD bath. Hemp oil and CBD oil come from the same Cannabis Sativa plant, but different parts. Because they come from different parts of the plant, they contain different compounds and benefits.

Hemp oil or hemp seed oil is processed by cold pressing the seeds of the plant. CBD or cannabidiol is made from the flowers, leaves, and stalks of the Cannabis Sativa plant.

Neither hemp oil nor CBD will get you high, as they contain only trace amounts of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

What skin conditions could a hemp oil bath treat?

Hemp oil baths can help treat many skin conditions like acne, eczema, and psoriasis. Hemp oil’s fatty acids Omega-3 and Omega-6 both nourish the skin with moisture and fight inflammation.

Many skin conditions are caused by inflammation or an imbalance in oil production. Gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) is an Omega-6 fatty acid that is an anti-inflammatory. GLA’s anti-inflammatory properties will decrease inflammation while encouraging cell growth and repair.

An imbalance in oil production can cause excessively oily or excessively dry skin. Neither condition is healthy for your skin. Hemp oil will moderate oil production, leaving you with moisturized skin that is just right.

Who can benefit from a hemp oil bath?

Anyone can benefit from taking a hemp oil bath. Pregnant women, babies and toddlers, and people with skin conditions can see the most benefit from hemp oil. Hemp oil is typically safe for all people with all skin types.

Before using any new skincare product, perform a patch test. To perform a patch test, drop some oil on a small clean area of skin. Then wait 24 hours to check for redness, itching, or other irritation. If you find none, hemp oil is safe for you to use.

Are hemp oil baths safe for pregnant women?

Hemp oil baths are both safe and beneficial for pregnant women. The FDA has stated that the use of hemp seed-derived oils and foods are safe for pregnant women.

During pregnancy, the skin goes through a lot of changes. These changes often cause the skin to get stretched, tight, and dry. Adding hemp oil to your bath water will help to moisturize and soothe your tired skin.

Are hemp oil baths safe for babies and toddlers?

Babies and toddlers can be bathed safely in a hemp oil bath. Just as hemp oil is safe for pregnant women, hemp oil is safe to use with babies and toddlers.

Babies and toddlers often have the same skin issues that adults have, like acne and eczema. Hemp oil is a gentle oil that will soothe your baby’s skin while they’re getting cleaned.

Contact your pediatrician if you’re concerned about your baby or toddler taking a hemp oil bath.

How often should you have a hemp oil bath?

You can take a hemp oil bath as often as you feel necessary. Frequent hemp oil baths will not harm your skin and will provide moisturization.

The frequency at which people bathe is different due to overall skincare routines, activity levels, weather, and more. If you’re doing strenuous activity, a hemp oil bath will help to soothe tired muscles. Others may need extra moisture if they live in a colder climate.

Whatever frequency you have your hemp oil bath, your skin will thank you for it!

Will a hemp oil bath make you tired?

A hemp oil bath will not make you any more tired than a regular bath would. A warm bath will make you feel at ease because it decreases your blood pressure and relaxes your muscles.

Adding hemp oil to your bath can help soothe any inflammation that you may have. This, in turn, could help you feel more relaxed, which could make you feel tired.

It is a misconception that hemp will make you tired because of its association with cannabis. The compound in cannabis that makes you tired is THC. THC is only found in trace amounts in hemp oil. It is not enough to make you feel tired.

If you do feel tired, try taking a hemp oil bath right before bedtime.

How do you make a hemp oil bath?

You can take a hemp oil bath by adding hemp oil to your bathwater. Additionally, you can make hemp oil bath salts which can be thrown into your bath.

To use hemp oil:

  1. Draw your bath as you usually would.
  2. Pour in a few tablespoons of hemp oil.
  3. Allow a few minutes for the hemp oil to mix into the water.
  4. Get in and enjoy!

Another method is to use hemp oil bath salts. This method provides additional benefits through the use of Epsom salts, coconut oil, and other ingredients.
