How do You Use Hemp Oil as a Moisturizer?

“How do you use hemp oil as a moisturizer?”, is a common question that we get here at Humming Hemp. I’m here to answer it!

To use hemp oil as a moisturizer, apply hemp oil directly to clean skin and leave on for a few minutes before washing off with warm water. Hemp oil can also be taken orally to get many of the same benefits as using it topically.

But, that’s not all! Hemp oil can do wonders for your skin like fighting inflammation, moderating oil production, and more. Luckily, for you I’m going to show you how to use hemp oil as a moisturizer. You’re going to have the clearest, brightest, and best looking skin around!

What is Hemp Oil?

Hemp oil, also called hemp seed oil, is an oil pressed from the seeds of the Cannabis Sativa plant. Hemp oil is often confused for Cannabidiol oil (CBD). However, it is not the same as CBD oil, though they can come from the same plant. While hemp oil is made from seeds, CBD oil is made from the stalks, flowers, and leaves of the Cannabis Sativa plant.

Hemp oil contains very little CBD or tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) which is the psychoactive compound that would get you high. So hemp oil will not get you high or make you fail a drug test

Hemp oil is dark brown to dark green in color. It can be used in cosmetics (such as using it as a moisturizer!) and can also be used to add a nutty flavor to many of your favorite foods.

How do You Use Hemp Oil as a Moisturizer?

Hemp oil is commonly used as a moisturizer by applying it to clean skin and washing it off after a few minutes. Like with all skincare products, test hemp oil on a small patch of skin before widespread use to check for allergies or other irritation.

It is very unlikely that your skin will have an allergic or other negative reaction to hemp oil or other hemp products.

To make sure that you are not allergic to hemp oil, you should follow these steps to test:

  • Clean and dry a small section of skin on your arm
  • Apply pure hemp oil to the small section
  • Apply a bandage and wait at least 24 hours for a reaction

If you get no reaction (redness, burning, itching, etc), hemp oil is likely safe for you to use on your skin. You can use as much hemp oil as you would with any other moisturizer.

You can also add hemp oil to your skincare routine by adding essential oils and coconut oil for a superpowered facial moisturizer. Hemp oil can also be used as a make-up remover!

As you can see, using hemp oil as a moisturizer is easy to do. However, if you do not want to use it as a moisturizer, you can take it orally to get the same benefits.

To take hemp oil orally, you can take 1 or 2 teaspoons daily. You can take it on its own or add it to your favorite smoothie, soup, or salad.

Is Hemp Oil a good Moisturizer?

Hemp oil is a fantastic moisturizer. Everyone can benefit from using it, no matter what your skin type is. Hemp oil’s best properties for skin come from its abundance in the fatty acids Omega-3 and Omega-6. Hemp oil draws moisture to the skin and forms a seal to keep moisture in.

What Are the Benefits of Using Hemp Oil as a Moisturizer?

There are many benefits to using hemp oil as a moisturizer. Some of the benefits include  balancing out oil production, soothing inflammation, treating skin conditions, and fighting signs of aging.

Hemp oil is a great moisturizer for all skin types because it is able to keep skin hydrated while balancing out oil production. A balance in oil production is key because too little can cause dryness and too much can cause oil build-up. An oil imbalance can cause skin issues like acne.

Hemp oil contains fatty acids (Omega-3 and Omega-6) which is a powerhouse for fighting against inflammation. In particular, gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), is helpful as an anti-inflammatory that also encourages the growth of new skin and new cell generation. Hemp’s anti-inflammatory properties can help to heal skin conditions such as atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, and eczema.

Lastly, hemp oil can assist in reducing fine lines and wrinkles as well as other signs of aging. Hemp oil fights fine lines and wrinkles with its amazing fatty acids, linoleic and oleic acids. These fatty acids can’t be produced by the body so must be introduced through food or moisturizes. Luckily, hemp oil has these acids in high supply!

Hemp oil will leave your skill feeling soft, supple, and hydrated.

Can You leave Hemp Oil on Your Skin?

Hemp oil can safely be left on the skin.  Leaving hemp oil on for a longer period of time allows for deeper moisturization. For extra moisture, you can leave hemp oil on your skin overnight.

To leave hemp oil on your skin overnight, apply the oil on freshly washed skin, and go to bed. It’s that simple! When you wake up, cleanse your skin as you normally would. Your skin is now hydrated, cleansed, and ready to take on the day.

Hemp oil can also be added to any kind of homemade facial masks such as a honey or avocado mask.

Can Hemp Oil be Absorbed Through the Skin?

Hemp oil is easily absorbed through the skin. Hemp oil is a “dry” oil, meaning that it will absorb quickly into your skin. Unlike many other moisturizers, hemp oil does not sit on top of the skin.

It is absorbed through the skin and brings water (moisture) with it. The fatty acids allow it to create a barrier that locks the moisture inside.

Will Hemp Oil Clog Your Pores?

Hemp oil will not clog your pores because it is rated as zero on the comedogenic rating scale.

What’s the comedogenic rating scale? It is a rating scale that determines how likely a skincare product will clog your pores. This scale goes from zero to five, with products rated a zero being the least likely to clog your pores. Specifically, zero is defined as non-comedogenic.

One of the great things about our hemp oil is that you are getting pure hemp oil. The more ingredients in a skincare product, the harder it is to figure out how it will affect your skin.

Hemp oil is a natural moisturizer that won’t clog your pores. You can feel safe knowing that it won’t stress out your skin.

Does Hemp Oil Tighten Skin?

Hemp oil tightens your skin because it gives your skin the essential moisture that it needs. When your skin is moisturized it will tighten as well as get rid of the stiff feeling that dry skin leaves behind.
